Keys is known not only for her music but also her dedication to the non-profit organiation Keep a Child Alive that provides AIDS medicine to families in Africa that are devistated by the disease. In 2006, Keys collaberated with Bono from U2 to cover the Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush song "Don't Give Up" for World AIDS Day in 2006. Alicia Keys has visited many African countries to encourage taking care of children affected with the disease.

On top of her involvemenet in AIDS recognition, she also has done a lot to help raise money by performing at ReAct Now: Music and Relief (a concert to help support Hurricane Katrina victims), and is a spokeswoman for From tha Ground Up (a charity that gives American youths the means to achieve success).
